Effects of Using Computer-Based Activities in Teaching English Speaking at a High School in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

It is well-acknowledged that the English language becoming widespread worldwide, and application of computer technology in teaching learning foreign languages general English, particular, has shown significant changes. To improve speaking skills for high school students, we designed applied some computer-based activities (CBA) using technology. This research aimed to explore effects such CBA at a Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The study was carried out with mixture quantitative qualitative methods. A total 88 students were engaged as subjects form experimental control groups. group given treatment their sections five months. set pre-test post-test conducted assess effectiveness on this comparison one who got no CBA. In assessment, employed PET international test's rubric student questionnaire which helped identify students' attitudes towards results showed positive significantly improving communication problems after treatment. addition, they quite interested CBA, great encouragement recommend more use Vietnam's schools similar contexts.
